The Senior PHP Developer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance
of all current and future applications at the company. The ideal candidate has
extensive experience in developing applications in an object-oriented manner,
utilizing PHP and MySQL on a Linux platform. A strong commitment to quality,
structure and documentation is a must.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and support of the different
web-based applications used by the company and its customers.

Responsible for the design, planning and development of new applications.
- Responsible for providing regular written and verbal updates of IT activities
and events to the lead developer and to upper management.
- Analyze business
problems and requirements and propose appropriate technical solutions with
professional, concise, and traceable documentation.
- Design and implement
PHP software applications using a variety of tools and platforms, including
open source products.
- Facilitate adoption of reusable components by providing
training, coaching, and mentoring other developers as needed.
- Deliver
rapid and seamless updates to the production environment by deploying high
quality changes on schedule within a fixed maintenance cycle.
- Facilitate
integration and system testing activities.
- Coordinate and participate
in development activities with onshore and offshore technical personnel.
- Participate regularly in design and code walkthroughs, applying coding
standards and style guidelines consistently.
- Create system and support
documentation for all components.
- Apply industry best practices to all
architecture, design, and programming activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Three or more years of application development experience in PHP
- Minimum
five years experience with distributed development including system integration
across multiple platforms
- Experience of the primary architectural design patterns
- Experience
with a variety of formal methodologies and disciplines for delivering new
or enhanced applications (XP, RUP, ISO).
- Ability to attend client meetings
to gather and present information for product development
- Working knowledge
of HTML and CSS
- Experience designing user-friendly interfaces for complex
web applications
- Experience working with Unix/Linux server environments
- Excellent problem-solving
skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
