System Integration

We welcome all technologies and make them play nice together.

Some software needs to be built from the ground up. Tachometry can help by bringing the best processes and tools to your custom development effort. In other cases, there are existing systems that solve a specific subset of your needs. Through the integration of these best-in-class systems and Tachometry's disciplines, we can package complete solutions for your business process.

Glue-ware and View-ware

Tachometry's system integration success is focused on two key elements:

  • Glueware: locking applications into one cohesive unit using design patterns like service oriented architecture and standards based messaging.
  • View-ware: creation of a seamless interface in order to engage the user and make the application look and feel appropriate for the target community.

OpenCms and jBPM

In a classic example of system integration, we look at two Java applications in OpenCMS and JBoss' workflow management system, jBPM. OpenCms is a robust and scalable open source content management engine. Itself being built on many of the other open source frameworks, such as Apache's Lucene search engine, OpenCms delivers a very flexible and highly index-able content delivery mechanism. Included right out of the OpenCms box is a very usable, but simple publication workflow, which identifies several common roles in the content approval process and allows administrators to assign permissions such as edit and publish to the user roles. In many cases, this is all that is needed to meet the content publication objectives. However, OpenCms focuses primarily on the management and delivery of content, leaving some larger organizations desiring to have more control over the approval processes. That's where system integration comes in.

By integrating jBPM through the standard interface points supported by OpenCms, the content management engine that once might have been thought of having a deficiency over the high-priced proprietary software solution now delivers much more than even the best in the vendor-licensed solution. By focusing solely on the enterprise workflow processes the developers of the jBPM project not only use but help advocate for the creation and use of standards to regulate and document the workflow management process. That means that whatever software you want to use to build your workflow model will work seamlessly with your content management system.

By integrating the best systems available, you get more than the sum of the parts. You get the best development teams in the world focused on their projects. Tachometry bridges this gap by bringing these teams together to work for you.
